It's a double PIA and I'd wash the engine well _before_ beginning, to easy to get grime and grit into the oil passages, always a very bad thing .
As mentioned, any time you're faced with allen fasteners, take the time to clean each one *perfectly* before ever inserting an allen wrench as they're easy to strip and hard to remove once damaged .

The oil cooler lines were replaced a handful of years ago. That was a PITA too.

I have the gasket, and special shortened wrenches used to work the oil cooler lines, yet it still looks like a PITA.
Any advice? Did replacing the gasket stop the leak? Any special sealants used on the gasket, etc?
