Well, it is a sad story, but here it is: Original engine died when I tried to beat a yellow light not knowing there was a large dip in the road so I was airborne and when I landed I had two holes in the oil pan. The oil quickly leaked out and I fried the engine before I understood what was happening. The second engine came from a rust bucket in MN. It worked well for 8-10 years but then started overheating. Took it to Mike the Mechanic who thought he fixed the overheating issue. I picked it up to drive it from California to Washington, but going over the mountains (4500') the head gasket blew coming in to Bakersfield.
Probably neither issue was the OM617's fault, rather driver and mechanic error.
