They are heavy and seem like it. First time for me to get into calipers. I always assumed there would be o-rings to seal but these are truly pistons. just a machined fit. Starting to get nervous about fire. Smoke from BC overtook us today, again, and sounds like everyone is in for the long haul and fires break out every day somewhere, you just hope its not you. Max
If you have the kits and everything else is good, mount the caliper in a vice, insert the square sealing ring and install the boot. The easiest way to get the piston in through the boot is to use a blow gun through the brake line port while holding the piston over the hole. The air will escape around the edges of the piston, causing the boot to temporarily expand. You then quickly press the piston down into the bore. Once you get it square in the hole, you can let up on the air as the boot closes up around the sides of the piston. Use a wooden hammer handle to bump the piston all the way in.
It takes a little practice, and be careful that you don't use too much air pressure so that the piston snaps up and pinches your fingers. You don't need to ask me how I know that.
