Both very good points ! .
#1: YOU are footing the bill so whatever pleases you, is the correct thing .
#2: unsprung weight is important (nee critical depending on how you drive) , 240's with hub caps came with light alloy wheels, they were long gone from my '82 240D so I found a very nice Gentleman up North who sold me a complete set he said were nasty but un damaged, I took them home and cleaned them diligently and they look fine to me and the tires never skip / bounce as I'm thrashing it over rough roads now....
The Bilstein HD shocks help too of course bu lighter wheel/tires are good .

Going from 14" to 15" with aluminum rims, and getting lower profile tires to get about the same ride height, shouldn't add weight, and if you're going from steel 14"s to Aluminum 15"s, it'll be lighter. I did that to my wife's Volvo, Steel to Aluminum, yet found some Volvo 16"s at the PAP that fit, with lower profile tires. Handles quite well.
