3-5 glow cycles to start in 35 degree weather? I've only had to go to
3 cycles with my 300D when it got down to 20, and that was with one
known dead glow plug (I don't usually drive my 300D in the winter). I
typically double-cycle when it's below 50, but that's because I don't
like to grind my starter as long as it would otherwise take.
Now, with an all-original engine with 268,000 miles and a few years of
neglect before I got it, I don't know its current compression. It may
be starting more easily because it's starting to have low compression.
But, it doesn't smoke at all once it's warmed up, so I'm still very
happy with it.
