[diesel_mercedes] Re: 1955 Chevy

I'd love it although I let my 1955 Medium Duty Chevy tow truck go 30 - odd years ago....

I still miss it and wish it was still rattling it's way around Southern California ~ even after I re painted it and overhauled the original 235 C.I. i6 engine it was a battered old thing .

I never hesitated to hop into it and take off for 100 + mile tows .

I vividly remember one trip in about 1977 going up over the Cajone Pass on I-15 ~ it was Winter and the winds were fierce, at the bottom of the hill were lots of Semis with their trailer 90° to the cabs, the C.H.P. had closed the freeway completely due to snow but I foolishly headed on up the hill to Hesperia to deliver an old VW Beetle to my painter .

The passenger side vent wing glass was long gone and it had no heater so I nearly froze to death plus i missed my exit and had to traverse the median in the snow...... glad I didn't get stuck .

Hey, anyone have a 1955 Chevy truck? I was cleaning in my shop and found a owners manual for a 1955. Brand new, perfect. I sold my truck years ago, letting go of stuff. Anyone? max
