That's how it's supposed to look , there's a copper crush washer down inside the well .
Yours looks much better than the ones I removed and discarded did .
I'd not use MEK , just keep it simple and use Ether and some Q-Tips .

I took the outlet off and have som MEK to clean the bits with. But the question arises - should there be an oring in the grove around the valve seat. See attached pic.
