Usually it's not the motor. If you hear nothing when you hit the switch, 1st check the fuses, then the switch, which could be tested by seeing if there's power to one of the prongs or sockets behind the switch and connect it to the prong or socket next to it, or swap switches with a known working one. If that works bingo. If not, maybe the motor, yet I'd still follow the wires back to make sure the motor is getting power.
If it is the switch, it can be cleaned by taking it apart, or just grab a few from PAP.
If it makes noise, yet doesn't move, the regulator might be stripped out.

I have a 1984 mercedes 300D and the driver window will no longer go up or down. What year motor will fit this car. PickNPull is having a sale on Thursday and would love to go find on and fix this problem.
I this common? Is there something other than the motor that could cause this.
