If this does good running continues, I will become the de-facto poster boy for the virtues of MMO. At one point I was thinking complete overhaul. And now it may just have been some varnish from sitting for so long - over a year prior to my acquiring the car this engine came from. Quieting some noisy lifters is one thing. Saving an engine from a costly overhaul is so much more substantial.

I feel like I don't' want to jinx anything by saying too much. But I am getting hopeful here.

When in doubt, MMO can be the cheapest fix available - right up there with duct tape, paper clips, and clothes hangers. I felt the same thrill when I doused a non working rusted wall clock with WD 40 and brought it back to life 20 years ago.
