I sold my 300TD (wagon) for 4100 with 2500 down in San Francsco.  After a few months of waiting for the rest of the money the disgruntled buyer blamed me for every problem he had with the car.  It has a nice solid conversion.  I drove it for years and got my money out of it.  I sold mine on Craigslist.  I advise getting the full amount out of it but I didn't have room and sold with just the down payment.  I'd say your car is worth 2000 dollars with the conversion for an SD.  Less for a w123 sedan. Grease is becoming less popular since it takes a mechanic to drive one these days.  I got blamed for a rattling gear shifter when it was really the drive shaft tearing itself apart. Which took out the rear bearing in the transmission.
