Can you see the noobie mistake I made last time I had these out ? .

To - day I decided enough lollygagging 'round , time to get back to work , I gathered the spare set of matched delivery valves I harvested recently cleaned each one separately , wire brushing the barrel clean of old gummy fuel and polishing until it shone , then I washed it and the pintle Hospital Clean with aerosol brake cleaner , re assembled and set aside , opened up the IP's delivery valves and discovered some occluded fuel in the wells and some really fine silty stuff I cleaned out with Q-Tips then blew the IP's wells out , installed the new set of used , non BOSCH valves and pintles , cleaned the injectors where the fuel pipes connect (only a tiny bit of silt in the #'s 3 , 4 & 5) , buttoned it all back up , blew a small amout of black chunls out of the clear plastic intake screen , primed the system then washed the engine as the IP had dribbled diesel fuel the entire time I had it open in spit of clamping both feed and return hoses.... naturally when the IP dribbles fuel , it dribbles it directly on the motor mounts and engine shock absorber mounts that I just replaced....

Grabbed a milk crate (to sit on) , brushes and a sponge ball bottle cleaner thing on a stick , some wheel cleaner and had at the tires and Bundt wheels , the sponge ball thing worked pretty well in those hard to clean wheel holes .

Worked up a fresh bucket of car wash soap and washed the whole car , the dingdang oil pan pixies have been at it again while I was sleeping , there's now a serious dent or four plus right near the oil drain plug the bottom of the pan is so thin it has a crack in it and drips ~ this meat the entire back of the car (that I just washed all the diesel smoot off of two weeks ago) was oily and filthy *~X( at wits' end .

Anyways , it's *much* cleaner now , I had to discard the new wash rag (I'll dry it and use as a grease rag 'till it's truly dead) and wash my new synthetic chamois as it got a few black streaks on it .

I also replaced one hood spring that inexplicably bent (?! WTH ?!) with a nice perfect champagne colored one I bought last month .

As usual  , the car runs out fine , I still see exhaust smoke when leaving a dead stop but very little , we'll see how bad it is at night with head lights behind me .

To - morrow I hope to make up an injection timing drip tool and soon I'll time the IP , test it for smoke then begin on the injectors .

Whew ~ lotsa hard work for this old fat man *:-B nerd .
