Alan, I am just south of Baltimore. The alternatives to a block heater do not sound promising. Anyway new glow plugs should help. But putting a coil underneath the oil plan is not too bad. Like one of those Katz heaters I guess. Draining and re-heating oil is not really a practical thing one can do everytime - I just wanted to be sure and came up with that. I don''t know WHAT helped most, but she fired very quickly.
