Well Mark l;
I now live in Sunny Southern California so anything below 40° F is ' bitterly cold ' to me as I can't wear a closed face helmet .

Agreed , I used to ride in the teens but I'm old and broken now so the temperature affects my bones much more than it used to .

Mark Teased :
What is "bitterly cold"?
I'll ride down into the 'teens, as long as the weather is dry and the roads aren't too slick, or sandy. If it's rainy, then, only down to freezing (32 degrees F).
Many have been the times I've brushed snow off the seat, and arrived with ice still clinging to the bike.

No ;
the So. Cal. Norton Club .
I had some Kailua in my coffee when I got up there for anti - freeze .
Many years ago , a New Years Day ride up there and beyond was a regular thing , after my Son got in his 20's he stopped riding in the cold so I tapered off and quit .
You're correct , most often the pavement is clear and dry even when it's bitterly cold up there .

I assume it was 4 Roses that you were running for. I don't see anything wrong with that picture, the sun was shining and the road was dry. I used to commute 30 miles each way to college in February. Admittedly it was southern NY, but I frequently road in snow.
