It kills it and turns *most* of the fungus (depending on how bad your individual car is) into incredibly fine particles that will flow right through your fuel filters and the rest of the fuel system too with out damaging it .
You might consider adding 8 + ounces to a fully filled tank , driving it a while then parking it a few days so it can do it's thing .
If you're still unsure , run the tank to the low level light comes on then change the clean intake screen _only_ fill it up and see what happens .
No need / point to mindlessly change the secondary filer .

AHA! I gave it the recommended dose with a full tank but it's still
acting up. Of course it could take us a month to use up a full tank,
still I would have thought it would have helped by now.
Does it actually dissolve the stuff, or just kill it? I need to change
the filters again but I hate to make a daily chore of it, could get
expensive. Any good way to tell if the stuff is dead? or just change
the filters and take your chances.
