Charge it overnight then go see your dad. He will enjoy seeing you. The battery should be charged by the time you are home

I charge until I hear gas bubbles popping inside the cells; check it once an hour. At 6 amps that will take less than 50 hours

Got my new HUCO Voltage regulator in. Old one seems as generic as they come. No markings except a little 03 252 stamped on a plane black cap.
There were no brushes on it, and only one spring. I did find one tiny brush bit inside the case of the alt. I am sure this is the reason my battery wasn't charging lol, but I really will not know until I charge the battery up so I can start the car. I have a 6/2 amp charger that does not shut off automatically. How long should I put it on for? Or should I have AAA jump start it, and I could drive in to town and see my Dad? (25-30 miles)
