The master cylinder is kaput ~ get rid of it A.S.A.P. before it fails and you hit something and destroy the car or kill someone .
It's an easy job to change it and the bleeding of the brakes afterwards will ensure your brake fluid is nice and fresh .
USE DOT 4 ! .

Just started today, pump the pedal, brakes quickly and strong with boost, hold at idle and eventually goes to the floor but holds. Pump and is back up top, slowly fades to floor. Not good. Seems like fluid pressue related not vac - checked fluid reservoir and seemed ok, but will keep an eye on. Afraid it may be in master or booster. Any / all suggestions welcome - my son slammed on the brakes a few times today by mistake while he was driving an wondering if it's related. Too late if so, but one more piece of data. Thx in advance, wish me luck :-)
