| My '84 300SD gave it's life, for my daughter's on the 4th.. And the car caught fire.. ...my daughter said she didn't even stall.. For a minute, I felt like I could drive away.. The accident is still under investigation.. (Meaning no one has been cited). My g/f witnessed the accident.. Katie wasn't moving-- so I'm hard pressed to believe she'll be cited. I know we go thru this "whenever" one of us loses a car, tragically... Does having proof of parts, service-- recent paint/body work do anything, but remind us of how much we put into our cars?? I have pictures of her being taken to bare metal, and body restored last spring, for instance.. My paint and body guy, I think would be more than willing to tell them I paid him a king's fortune.. My daughter is bruised up good, and has a fibula (small bone in the calf) fracture.. She's on crutches, but VERY MUCH ALIVE... For that, I thank God.. ...and Agnes. I will miss her-- I have an '85 300SD (rustbucket) thatI was going to strip for parts... I will have another OM617 powered SOMETHING.. I fell in love with that old "tractor motor" (as I've called it.) My daughter helped me "change out" a brake rotor last week.. Going to miss you Agnes. Guess heaven needs Mercedes diesels.. Hope to see you again, there! :) ...no trees were injured in the delivery of this email. Some electrons WERE inconvenienced, however. |
