1984 300CD Automatic , AC used pretty much the whole tankful .
Because if the odd missing and low power on hills issue , I decided to replace the old style hand primer pump and to - day on the way home from work the low fuel light blinked on @ 420 miles so I had at it as soon as I pulled into my driveway ~ it's a 5 minute job using the original tool kit tools .
I also replaced the hoses to and from the primary fuel intake screen as they weren't Metric .
Then I drove it another 22 miles to South Central L.A. and filled it up with 17.809 gallons of Diesel fuel and 5 Oz. of Startron .
24.8 MPG , not bad but not good either .
Looking under the hood as the tank filled I saw a couple fuel return hoses were wet ,
I don't carry dykes nor duckbill/needle nose pliers necessary to make this an easy job although I do carry the correct spare hose .
Hopefully Tom will bring some correct pliers & dykes to SWMBO's house to - morrow and I'll change the weepy hoses in the street .
I also noticed some wetness where the # 3 fuel pipe attaches to the injection pump so I'll give that a tweak with the 17MM toolkit wrench when I replace the weepy hoses .
