Maybe start running penetrating oil in around the studs now to help loosen them. If you can reach them, give them a loosening twist now to see how many are stuck. Bill in

Did you use the kit with the new impellers (the 200k kit) or the one without? How much was the kit? It's a W123 (617 engine?) that you did this to? Also, how many miles on the engine and condition of impellers... I'm going to be doing this job on mine soon. My nightmare scenario includes 1) me cheaping out and buying the kit without impellers 2) finding my impellers screwed up after I open it up and 3) breaking studs off when I try to get the turbo off in the first place. Mine's an 84 300D originally Canadian but lived in TN much of its life. Actually I think it's mostly lived in someone's garage. It only has 130k miles on it.
