Always remember :
K.I.S.S. ! .
'won't shift into park' is -VERY- different than ' won't start in park but starts O.K. in neutral ' ! .
If it truly won't shift into park , the very firsdt thing I'd do is remove the ash tray and *gently* slide the shifter surround back until the easy to break pin on the rear most edge of it is loose so it pops up 1/4" , then CAREFULLY work the connections loose from the window switches and hazard light and electric mirror switches as applicable before removing the cover and looking to see what came loose and jammed the shifter from moving all the way forward .
You may remember an old ammoco TV commercial that showed two monkeys in coveralls beating on an automatic tranny with baseball bats ~ that was in fact , an internal , secret ammoco training film showing *exactly* what those idiots to to your car if you're foolish enough to allow them to touch it .
