Re: [diesel_mercedes] Oh come on, it could have happened to any of us!

Yeah, I got more ribbing when he got home for the looong (yipee!) weekend.

Mine has one of those faceplates too.  Oh didn't you see the red neck window switches I have?

I am not the right person to ask about removing anything aftermarket on a MB! :)  Mine just sits in there.

I remember them telling me something about not having a lighter because they had to use that wire on the stereo.  Not that I care about a lighter, but it would be nice to have access to the terminal so I could use it for a charger if I want.

That was quite funny, Trish!  I have to do something about the stereo situation in Liesel, the 240D.  It is one of those removable face plate types with a missing face plate!  I would like to find the correct face plate, but I'll have to take the stereo out of the dash to determine the make and model since the front of it is blank.  I know that the ash tray has to be removed to get to the two Phillips head screws behind it.  Then, the plate with the hazzard switch (and power window switches if you have them) has to be slid backward to free up the rear pin.  Beyond that, what does it take to remove the stereo?

Liesel did well today, a 15 mile drive around town to do a few errands.  She's running great on the Mobil 1 synthetic oil.  The parts will be here tomorrow, rear engine mount, 8MM 1/2" drive Allen hex for the lower bolts, Monark primer pump, and the most important thing, the hood star, of course!
