I had the indy MB tranny shop guy do the repair, so I'm not sure what he
bought (said shift kit), though he said at least one spring was
shattered inside the tranny. The parts should be pretty cheap, less then
$100. If you're up for replacing them yourself, talk to Tom at the
classic center, as he'll know what you need. In the past, I did a shift
kit on a GM T-400 tranny, and it consisted of just a set of springs and
metal balls. I think MB is the same. Depending on which shift flares, it
a different problem. The 2-3 shift is the springs in the valve body, 3-4
is a rebuild.
