Sounds like the person who lost the engine just mixed oil and diesel and didn't heat the mixture. Some in Europe have had success with 50% oil and diesel but I wouldn't chance it. You must heat vegetable oil before injecting into a cylinder. Using 60% vegetable oil would be dangerous. I've had 4 Mercedes diesels and one did start to have a knocking sound but it was a turbo diesel 1984. I sold a 240 after a hundred k on veg oil. Still running a 240 on veg oil for 70 k and still starting right up and running strong. Also have a 300TD which likes VEg oil. All single tank. Lawrence Rhodes.......
