It requires a 46 MM socket , Harbor Freight or any VW Partshaus as the older VW Busses used them on the rear brake drums .
Get a wobble extension or knuckle , a 3' long extemsion and a whole buncha rags as more Diesel fuel than you can imagine , will come roaring out when you remiove it , tie clean rags around both wrists to prevent it from running into your armpits and really messing up your day .
Have a really BIG drainpan ready , I use two as one usually overflows and you cannot re install the screen until the tank is empty .
Jack up and safely block the rear of the car fist , no working under a jack ! .
You can clean the sludge off the screen with a toothbrush and some Gasoline .
Why are you removing this screen ? .
