[diesel_mercedes] Oil Cooler Repair or Replacement / 99 E300 TD 316k KM

 

Seems that the oil cooler leak is not just the lines. Losing .5 to 1 litre of oil each 1000km and am concerned that leak may worsen at speed, causing loss of engine. Benz wants $800 for a new unit and used units are inobtanium. Seems this cooler was used only on 98/99 E300TD and E420. Has anyone found an after-market alternative? Has anyone pulled the cooler and attempted a repair at, for example, a rad shop?
