We had hard pack and gravel...but over time it's been ground into the road.  We have a line on getting road base for free...but there's the issue of getting it here, dumping it and spreading it.  Kevin has a buddy with a dump truck, but it requires a CDL, so we have to wait until truck owner has time to drive and till we have enough $$$$ for the gas...right at 100 miles round trip.

I'm also trying to work a deal with the dirt race track across the street to borrow their giant John Deere.  He's got a sheepsfoot and a blade, we could have a nice driveway!  He knows how to build a road.  His racing season is done so he's not using his equipment till the end of Feb.

Trish,

Uh, one word:  Gravel?  Seems like that would be the solution.  But that's just me (and I live out in the country, too...)

There's an old saying "you can do a lot if you're handy - with money"  Otherwise you have to improvise good luck with your project.
