Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: No Secrets!

Max I got a good deal from my friend, he wanted his car to go to a good place and be well taken care of......

As for the car I figure realistically I will have put about $5K into the car and it will be in great condition, new paint, reconditioned interior, and it will last me the rest of my life.

I am trying to impress upon my daughters the value of buying used but dependable cars, and saving the monthly payments for things like houses and such........

It just makes so much sense for us to keep these mercedes cars going, and I do what I can but work keeps me out more than I wish. So, instead of driving one of those plastic, lightweight high priced cars that takes 5 years of payments to pay for......I choose to drive a classic. It may get a little less gas mileage, and be a little slower off the start, but it drives so well, and rides like a dream. And it has an option that the new cars don't have....it is PAID FOR!

I swear, when I open up the sunroof in the summer, and am driving down the road and feeling the wind while I am sailing on concrete there is just nothing quite like it. I literally laugh, my wife thinks I am a nut, and I love my car too much, but it has....personality. She treats me well, never falters, demands constant attention, yet performs magnificently. She is a classic. Just like my wife.........but some how she does not appreciate my sentimentality in the same way........chuckling.

Sounds like you got a very good deal and have a nice car. Was your friend good to you on the price? But some things just crack me up. Like , we keep hearing about how the most expensive car you can buy is a cheap Mercedes and I keep reading from guys who buy cheap Mercedes and then dump vast sums of money into them. I like the idea of buying one already in nice shape and not dumping piles of money into them. Max
