The engine stops on a dime. No problem there. The vacuum connection I'm talking about is on the passenger side of the transmission. It's some sort of swivel deal. Maybe that isn't supposed to swivel. But it seems factory. With a spring clip holding it together. Engine had an oil bath courtesy of my wife leaving off the oil filler cap for a hundred or so miles. Lucky not to lose the engine.
