The problem for her is when the gauge is inop it stays pegged at 3bar.
I had that problem with my 87 300SDL. Just needed to reconnect the wire
on the oil filter housing and it was good to go. Thought hers was the
same as our which actually sends oil into the passenger compartment! to
the gauge cluster. But thinking now it is the electric version. Surely
some later mid 80's W126 driver will chime in.
