Do a search in this group (try "radiator") and you will find mucho threads about this subject. For $200 you can also buy a new radiator after you flush things out and get to a steady 175F. Use MB antifreeze too (or an equivalent). After going through the exercises I am always at 175F in both cars.

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] recommended coolant & flush
Hello All
My 1978 300D is running hot, about 220 degrees Fahrenheit, at high speed on a very hot day. I have replaced the thermostat & radiator cap. This helped a little, but not enough.
Is there a recommended antifreeze and radiator flushes? I have read that the cooling system is sensitive to pH.
thank you
Rodger
