If you DO drive to Colorado Springs, figure on filling up in Woodland Park. Yeah, it's about 15-miles west of town, but, for some reason, diesel up there is at $3.75 a gallon, a good 15-cents cheaper than it is in the Springs. Those same Woodland Park stations are selling premium at $3.90 a gallon, standard unleaded at $3.62.
I don't understand what's going on there. Typically, fuel/gasoline is HIGHER in the mountain towns, due to extra cost to truck it in, and the lower frequency of stations justifies a higher price due to a scare factor. But, this is how it's been in Woodland Park the last month or so. (Actually, the price has gone down. Was $3.78 a diesel gallon last Tuesday.)
Mark in Lakewood, CO (Cheapest diesel I've found around here is $3.86.)
