I suppose there could be downsides. I steam cleaned 35 forklifts for 5 years every 6 months. Sometimes we had to get a push to get the newly "cleaned" forklift started. Never seemed to hurt the forklift though. We did it in the same pit we tested the welds on our Polaris Missile casings (think thousands of gallons of water under pressure and a weld fails).

Seems like there is someone on this board that is not a fan of steam cleaning. What's the downside?
