Everyone I knew, that drove a VW including myself sucked that valve. I learned how to work on cars at a VW shop. As a piece of shop art he had a piston with the top of said valve melted into it. Of course Nates gonna say, bad design. That was the one that got robbed of cooling by the oil cooler tower. In fact that was the guy who got me into my first Mercedes, the 1959 190D.
