Problem is really too much weight, too high off the ground.

Whenever we get even the smallest amount of slickness on the roads, SUVs can be found scattered all alongside the major roadways, in far greater numbers than their proportions.  Usually, they have California or Texas license plates....

Hi Max et al,

I just returned from a trip to Central California (Sierras/ Groveland,
CA). While the return trip was uneventful, the trip up was very wet, and
much car carnage was seen for the whole 400 mile trip north. Most of the
wrecked vehicles were pickup trucks and SUVs, which always seem to drive
too fast with wide tires and no weight in the back. My 300D drove quite
well, except for the moisture in the car which made switching back and
forth between heat and defrost, mandatory for the trip.
