I agree with all you said here. One key is that a septic tank is an
anaerobic environment and Rid-X is designed for such an environment.
The holding tank is not an anaerobic environment.
In 30 years of motorhoming, I've had only one case of black tank
constipation. I use the same toilet paper we do at home and usually
don't use any chemicals at all while in a campground. When the tank is
3/4 full, I dump. In case odor becomes a problem, then I use what ever
chemical I happen to have on board.
I think the main reason I haven't had any problems is when I'm getting
ready to make a long drive, I add water to the black tank and add a
half cup or more liquid laundry detergent. It doesn't hurt the seals
in the valves.
