[diesel_mercedes] Re : Vacuum System Parts

FWIW ;

The yellow & white check valves can be pretty rough looking but still work fine , nerly new ones will always be found on those gas hog Mercedes littering every junkyard in America.....

If you don't yet have one , go right now and buy a vacuum pump with gauge on it from Harbor /freight or the local Pawn Shop , Thrift Store , craigslist etc. as it's necessary to properly test every piece rather than just throwing parts at it .

I'd say that yes , you can also use the check valves from that old Ford LTD but beware that can be a slippery slope that ends sooner than you think with Tom and I taking parts off you formerly beloved Mercedes in the junkyard as we rattle & wheeze our way across America in yet another junker I saved from the crusher .

I'm sure there's a local Partshause that has Mercedes and VW / Porsche etc. parts , they'll have or can get , all the valces and corect size vacuum hose too .

ETY Parts in Eagle Rock , Ca. will set you right at the right price , tell Allen I said hi , they have Web Site and do mail order .

Or Tom Hansen @ The Mercedes Classic Center , your local Mercedes Dealer etc.

Pep Boys will have a cheap package of vacuum caps in the " HELP ! " section , be sure to cap off all the open vacuum pipes s no dirt , oil etc. gets in there to cause you grief later on . buy two packs , you'll need them .

The check valves have been placed on the wrong string of vacuum lines as well, the green valve in with the yellow, and I now know that is not correct. It seems the green check valve is suppose to service another function.
