Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Klima II Temp. Wheel of Misfortune ?

Well, my Klima I/Chrysler AutoTemp II has been working flawlessly for the past 6-years.  Once sorted out, and with the much improved aluminum-bodied servo, it's at least as reliable as it's successor.  In fact, the climate control system on my car has been the least of my problems.  I wish the rest of the car was so easily fixed once and for good....

Only thing left on my system is to replace that little auxiliary water pump.  It's been out since I've owned the car.  Maybe someday....

My previous MB diesel, a 1977 300D, also had a trouble-free Klima I.  It even still had it's original charge of R-12!

Well Lawrence ;

It sure beats the heck out if the wretched Klima I system with its EVIL SERVO FROM HELL .

I'll figure this out , just give me some time , then I'll share what I learn .

Rob's suggestion of trying Autohaus AZ was dead on ~ they only want $15 for the specific part that goes bad : http://www.autohausaz.com/search/product.aspx?sid=2mrnah45sxaxmx45m5ev4sym&makeid=800016@Mercedes&modelid=1193576@300CDT&year=1984&cid=hvac@hvac&gid=12607@HVAC%20Mono%20Valve%20Repair%20Kit

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Monovalve Repair Kit

Hey Nate, when buying parts and not buying from your dealer(now I'm thinking of Subaru) what should you look for? OEM parts or what? I know there is a lot of crap stuff out there. Maybe a good subject for discussion. Usually for my Mercedes I just go to Arizona Parts haus and buy what they have but now I need something for my winter car, Subaru. Thanks, max

Thanx Rob ;

I looked in Peach Parts and was astounded at how expen$ive it is .

I eventually found one in Pick-A-Part that looks new , they looked at it and asked me what the heck it was then called it an electric switch , cost $ 2.25 =8-) .

They also sold me some W-123 door checks " hinges " for $ 5.50 each and some inside door pulls from a European Spec. Sedan for $ 5.50 each ~ needless to say I am *very* happy and will soon be diving into the doors on the Wagon , replace the door checks and floppy release handles .

tool – a nut setter. Like you drill a hole half way thru a chassis member where you can't put a nut on the "other" side for a bolt,

This puts a nut into the hole and expands it in like a pop-rivet. Bill in Oregon
