[diesel_mercedes] Rain Driving Sans Brakes

So ;

I left work a bit early and headed to wards the freeway , tootling along in second gear , hazard lights flashing merrily

Of _course_ the heavens opened up and it began pouring rain in a most un California fashion so I remained in the slow lane , ere long the entire freeway flooded and the other drivers all slowed down to maybe 35 MPH , fine with me , I slowed down too and made it home safe and sound , didn't bump into anything .

New master Cylinder and DOT 4 brake fluid is on order , so far no replay from the Partshaus .

Now , if I can only beat this dang head cold I'll be fine .

Used this on degreasing – straight or mix with water.   Be sure to rinse very well.

TSP is also good at grease removing. Any of these products it helps to let it soak,

do its thing.  Might also want to try the spray can engine degreasers, although, I

think they are chemically the same or close to these other cleaners.

ON the solvent side, I've had good results from using "prep sol" type paint

cleaners, that I use on auto body paint and Woodie varnishing.  Available in

quarts and gallons.   There are several of these types of cleaners.

Thanx Carl ! .

I no longer know of any Los Angeles bio - diesel stations , the blush sort of went flying off that rose when the hipster jerkhoffs realized they'd have to get their hands dirty and _maintain_ a 30 + year old Mercedes.....

Me , I'll happily drive one (or three) until I can't , the routine mtce. is cheaper than any car note plus I like how these fine Automobiles drive .

Safer than my previous Vintage death traps too ! .

Nice work - bet you were sad when the 300TD left......

Speaking of the Nissan LEAF - the mayor of the council of my home town
in Australia brought a 2015 LEAF for his mayoral vehicle. Now this is
the first LEAF used by any council anywhere in Australia as a mayoral
vehicle....

Stay in touch. I, for one, would like to hear about your "leaf"
experiences. Your opinion, as a "gear head", means more than someone
who doesn't own a wrench.

I've found Lye Soap or Biodiesel to be amazing. Don't leave it on paint
or plastic for long. It will remove everything. Plastics and fabrics
should be okay with 15-30 minutes before thoroughly washing/rinsing with
regular detergent and water. Paints, you can see the rag picking up the
paint color in minutes.
