A few years ago I took my Subaru to a popular local shop for some work. I had a conversion with the owner, a nice younger man, who was pretty smart and learned to work on Subarus, went to Subaru school ect. Anyway one of his "sayings" was "we only use genuine Subaru parts", and that really means something to me. I had a conversion with the guy, face  to face, I was looking him right in the eyes when he told me that. I am pretty navie so when someone tells me they only use genuine Subaru parts I took that to mean they would use genuine Subaru parts on my car. So I had them replace the rear wheel bearings, they said its a 2-1/2 hour job on each side. I never had done it so I believed that too. T he car (and the bearings) had 150K miles. A couple years later(and 12000 miles) I had the car alignment done and that shop told me my rear wheel bearings were really noisy . Impossibile I said, I just had Subaru bearings put on the car thinking I had at least 100K miles to go. So anyway I go back to the shop and they check it out and tell me "yep, yer bearings are shot"and I say impossibile you guys put Subaru bearings on 12K miles ago. They tell they did not use Subaru bearings but Chinese bearings. o wow, fuck, was I really pissed. They lied to me to get some work. They tell me they will replace them but I gotta pay. O boy was I pissed, I really hate being lied to like that. They tell me its a 2- 1/2 hour job for their Subaru trained mechanics. By this time I'm thinking I will never have these hillbillies work on any of my cars again. One thing good, I guess, is they used a lifetime bearing from CarQwest, so I went there and bought another bearing(I can take the old one back for refund) and me and  one of my boys put it in. 2 -1/2 hours my ass. We had to figure it out as we went along and it took less than a hour. Actually pretty easy considering how important they are to driving the car. So now I have to figure out if the other side is bad.  Max
