Re: [diesel_mercedes] Diesel Smoot On Trunk Lid

I'm partial to biodiesel.  It is an excellent cleaner.  Any "bad" batch that I don't want in the tank or house oil tank can be used.  Use it sparingly.  It will take off paint if left too long.

edit
from preliminary research, looks like I have to grind off old connector, and
preen the new one with a ballpeen hammer. tom or barton had a post on this a long time
ago. I could not find an update as to how it went.

[diesel_mercedes] window regulator plastic part 84300sd

I took apart the left passenger rear door to fix the window won't go all the way up problem. The rectangular plastic piece that slides in the rail as the arm pushes up to raise the window broke in half. Called local mabenz, and they sell the part $8. drive 20 miles each way pick up the part, and it looks different. the parts guy says it will work, "i have never had one come back". I think his name is otto and he drives a school bus in springfield during the week!

Anyway the part is different. the arm that goes into the plastic piece has a male metal piece that looks like a rivet. the new part has a small metal cylinder already encased in the plastic. I think the whole regulator may have to be replaced.

Any thoughts? recommendations?

There is a lower set of rails and an upper set. To choose, pull up the
side lever firmly and slide the seat all the way back. Then, if you
adjust the seat fro and aft without pulling the side lever you stay on
the lower rails. If you are all the way back and pull up on the side
lever as you move forward you will be on the upper rails.

Nate, mozzies are little winged blood suckers, they grow them large here.
One of them came up to me and said "shall we eat him here, or take him to the swamp?" his friend said "we better eat him here, or the big guys will take him away from us".

[diesel_mercedes] Summertime Blues (AC Service)

It is important to _NOT_ just add refrigerant @ home using a DIY kit as this will inject some moisture into the system and sooner or later this will _always_ come back to bite you , in a $erious way as the tiny bit of moisture corrodes the delicate aluminum of the condensor and evaporator as well as other parts .

DIY repairs & flushing out , compressor replacement etc. is fine & good but always take it to a shop and have it properly evacuated before re filling the system .

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Hot A/C

First things first ~ .

Check the Monovalve as it's dead about 75 % of the time , an easy fix .

Does the compressor cycle on ? (look at it , when idling , the whole front part should be spinning) if it's spinning , carefully touch the metal AC pipe across the front of the engine , if it's cool , the Freon charge is O.K. .

How you fix the AC has much to do with how well it works later - example : if the center outlets don't blow gales of air , it'll never really cool the interior well so have an indie shop (unless you're rich)fix those first .

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Deans New Addition

Sounds like you did very well .

Are you aware there's two separate seat adjustments ? . the side one lowers the seat as it slides back , then you can use the front adjuster to set it so your feet reach , giving you more gut room under the steering wheel .

I've seen some pretty big dudes in W-123's , me included .

Consider adding the pool noodle bolsters to the seat springs now before they break and cause you serious discomfort .
