[diesel_mercedes] voltage regulator

Thanks Nate, my local auto parts store was able to order the regulator
with the Bosh part # you provided. Advance said they couldn't order
that item because it wasn't in their system. Installation was easy for
me, I had my daughter do it.

It happens out of the blue - and the accelerator compresses toward the floor and the engine races. I turn off the engine and coast for a few seconds, and then turn the engine back on again, and its okay for a few minutes - and then a few minutes later it starts again.
Mechanic disconnected the power steering rod today to see if that will possibly solve the problem.
Any suggestions please?

No pics, I was hurrying before the sun went down Friday night. It's was
a real quick job, and not much way of doing it wrong, as long as you put
the lock nut on with a little O-ring first. It hand screws in most of
the way, then start the car, adjust, lock. I thought it was a good idea
to do while the engine was warm, for an easy start, just encase there
was some issue there. Started right up.

Call Tom @ MB classic center & mention that you're on this list
(discount) $60 or so.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: rack damper bolt

LOL it's an easy swap and it worked great on my 84 300D. You can buy them in a lot of places. Mine is listed at $40 at autohausaz.com - don't know what kind of car you have. They don't show it as a "rack damper bolt" - instead you have to pick your car, go to the fuel & air link, then choose the nuts/bolts/screws/washers section and it will be there if they have it. Or you can keyword search for "bolt" and it will be in the list somewhere. They call mine "Adjustment Bolt at Rear of Injection Pump" and it's part number 1420560014 but your may be different depending on car/engine. Here are some pix:
