[diesel_mercedes] New to 300D

There is a series of idiot lights on the 1984 300D. from left to right.

high beam, battery, and a circle with dashes aroung it. What is this third indicator and what does it mean when it starts to flash or come on intermittantly.

thanks, Nick

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Shortbed Pickup Wanted

Close...:

http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2459261734.html

Another near-miss.  This one you'll have to pay for, but you can likely drive it home:

http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2446299117.html

Maybe:

http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2472536187.html

(The '48-ish Chrysler behind it looks pretty straight and complete....)

For what it's worth; it seems the '86's around here with 6-cylinders have the 4.3 V6, so, you're looking for something earlier than that....

O.K. folks ;

I'd like to purchase a 1967 ~ 198? 1/2 ton L6 / automatic powered shortbed GM pickup truck , I'll up fix it , no trailer queens please unless you're desperate for $ .

Will travel to look at anything Chevy or GMC .

I have $ plus my nice old 1976 GMC C2500 longbed  .

Stepside is a plus but I'm *very* flexible here .

I know these old rigs litter the landscape so if you know of one just sitting , or on a used car lot , or still working but for sale , flea-bay links , whatever .

I'm in So. Cal. .

Beaters/junkers O.K. , it'd be nice to be able to drive it on the trailer .

TIA , lets get cracking & find Nate a truck before I get too old to fix & enjoy it .

There is never any need to cut the belt ~ just switch it off and the pulley will spin freely , this is how an AC system works .

After all the stuff I had read about it being so much better than 134, I found out that in my car it is not. One thing tho is that a 6oz. can equals 17oz of R-12 and they cost me $4 a can, so that is a good thing. Anyway the AC worked good yesterday, hope the stuff stays in the system. max

Whats up? I'm currently disassembling an 85 300D that my daughter lost an argument with a garbage truck with.  Front clip is shot, parts are available in lower NY state.  I plan on keeping the engine & trans.  I only had it a short time before it's demise at 148,000 mi.  In the disassembly process I noticed a heavy amount of carbon build up in the intake manifold.  I've seen this before on an earlier car where the intake plugged to the point of keeping the engine from running.  I never did take the time to figure out the cause, any suggestions? email me or call 845-534-9092 for parts.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Whats up? update on HC12-a

Yea I heard that. I don't even get into my Mercedes from November to March or April. Forgot to say I got to watch my odo roll over to 190,000 yesterday. Wish I had my camera with me. Anyone want to trade for some parts off of a TD? My sweetheart(shes back) wrecked her back tailgate door on her 95 Nissan Pathfinder. It's forest green. We don't have those nifty junkyards around here. What are some sites I can check out? Thanks, max

[diesel_mercedes] Too Quiet

It's summertime so I've been busy cleaning out my backyard more & riding old Motos , this beats me up so badly I have to take longer naps , the Nercedes' sit patiently awaiting my beck & call .

I have the red 1980 300CD ready for sale , no interest so I'll put it on Flea-Bay as soon as I can get my son (or someone handy with a camera) to take some decent pictures of it .

I've been driving my truck or the Metropolitan Nash FHC when not on two wheels but the heat has hit me so to - morrow after noon the Manila Beige 300CD will hit the street again , it has good AC .

I hope to get to SWMBO's TD soon , I finally found & bought a door , she wants to take it on Vacation to Nevada this August so I've gotta make sure the AC is working , last time I drove it , it went warm after 20 minutes or so .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Whats up? update on HC12-a

Yes, things are a little quiet out there in diesel land. I put a new air cleaner filter in Martha - not very challenging, but good for the girl. She is a great car (for my wife @ $1800). At 280K she just runs and runs and purrs like a cat. Today or tomorrow, I'll flush her radiator and change the antifreeze - kind of silly when she stays on 175F all the time, but I like to keep her clean. It is summer so there is no shade under the trees to make me feel like doing anything strenuous. But, 2 rear axles on Mary are on the horizon, maybe I'll look at the shocks and under body mounts while I am at it.
