Ooooo-kay then ;
To recap : the last time I posted, on 4.5.2017, I was running low on fuel and hoping to run the tank dry ~ it chugged its gasping way into the local $tarbuck$ yesterday early evening, still plenty of sunlight so I set to work again and used an empty Starton gallon jug as an under hood sub fuel tank,(Pic.#1) the idea being to isolate the engine, injection pump, secondary filter etc., etc. from the main fuel tank proper ~ I figured if it runs clean from this 'pony tank' that will clearly indicate that the main fuel tank is where the fungus is hiding and I'll have to remove it (ugh) and clean it thoroughly in my back yard, I imagine I'll use a dilute Phosphoric Acid mix to do the job right proper .
As long as I had tools , sunlight and time I decided to install the new original M-B 'Cigar' hose and looking at my old one I realized it was dated 1984, the year my Coupe was built ! no cracks in it yet but it was stiff and looked funny when I bent a 90 degree bend in it so I'm glad to have changed it out .'
? Remember I showed one nice clean hose clamp from North Las Vegas ? that impressed me so much I rounded up all the old grimy ones I had lying about and tossed them in the Mason jar, let them swish and bounce their way clean in 1" of the K100 fungus treatment I'm now experimenting with (Pic.# 2).
I did a fuel economy check on this last tank, it came out to 28.9 MPG ~ I'm pretty sure that's the best I've even gotten out of this car and it was with a few full throttle runs, once or twice 100 MPH .
This morning I got up and out by 04:30 and headed West and made 25 miles before the one gallon of Startron ran out, I coasted to a stop as far as I could, unfortunately in a very narrow break down lane on an up hill curve in San Dimas, I quickly removed the empty jug and re filled it from my in trunk spare two gallon safety can and continued on my way .
Reaching Fontana again ran out of fuel, this time in the high speed i-210/i-15 freeway split ~ I was able to coast quite a ways and found a safer, wider place to stop right under a street light

.
This time I saved some time by swapping out my spare gallon Startron jug with one I'd filled right after running out the first time . primed it with 50 pumps, started right up and drove away, found a Chevron station and filled the empty gallon Startron jug, Cheveron Diesel Fuel looks like crank piss (pic.#3) so I added about 4 ounces of K100 to the gallon, I hope it's not cloudy and yellow because of *fungus*

. the spring thing on the pump's delivery was full of black familiar looking crud

. put the spare gallon in the trunk and came inside to use the WiFi .
I may have to stop using Chevron Diesel fuel, we'll see .
Lastly, when I took the spare hose clamps and fuel pressure relief valves out of the K100, simply wiping them resulted in Pic. # 2, pretty cool eh ?

.
This allowed me to closely inspect the part numbers stamped into the clamps and I discovered I have a mix of mostly M-B factory clamps in 12, 13 and 14 MM size ~ no wonder some times I'm un able to get a really tight fit on the intake hoses .
I'm off to look for more clamps and will only be using the size 12 & 13 as applicable ~ the 'cigar hose' wants # 14 clamps, the rest of the 7MM fuel hose connections want 12 or 13 clamps .
Pic. # 4 is the two paper element micronic filters I changed out in the $tarbuck$ parking lot when I installed the Startron pony tank ~ they didn't have many miles but had collected lots of super fine crud, giving me an ever so slight ray of hope that maybe, just maybe I'll have this fungus thing killed before another decade passes
