Thanks for the advice on the windshield.
The guy at the glass shop said they'll have to take the window out, and put it back in.
He first tried to get out of it, mentioning some seals being short, yet quickly changed tone, when confronted with the seal being a MB part et al. I'll schedule a time to drop it off.
Yes Max, my wife was in a bad wreck a year or so ago, and after we bought another Volvo 240 wagon, someone ran into the back of it 4 days later. I put on a hatch from the PAP and transferred all the better parts off the smashed car.
The wife and the Volvo are doing well and staying out of trouble.

Seal more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ than windshield. o geezzzzzzzzz. I have heard the only way is to break the glass, but everything I know is so old school, I've been in the woods for the last 40 years so what do I know. What a bummer. That windshield break you described a couple of weeks ago sounded very hairy. Didnt your wife have a bad crash in the Volvo a couple of years ago? Hope all that crap is in the past, life gets scary sometimes. Max

Hey, can a windshield seal be removed and reused, if it's only been on a
week?
I bought a MB windshield seal, and had a local windshield shop replace
my windshield last week, after having my windshield smashed by something
on the highway, only to find out either the seal or the glass is off to
one side, leaving a 1/4 " gap in the outer seal at the upper driver's
side corner. I'm going back to the shop today, yet wanted to know
options before I got there.
Can the glass be moved once installed? (with lots of silicone lube or
something)
The seal is more expensive than the windshield.
Maybe better to smash the glass and get it replaced.
Not happy about this.
