[diesel_mercedes] Re: Euro Model 300D for sale in San Francisco - Low Miles

That's "Oriental Red" and is a nice color .

Do you have a link to more photos and maybe an OnLine advert ? .

? It has dead AC or never had AC being a gray-market import ? .

Hi group,
I am selling my much beloved 300D.  Because it's it's euro import it has the mini bumpers and cloth seats and all the gages are in kilometers instead of miles.
I love the car, it's only got 235 kilometers on it and it drives fast. Iv'e been getting about 25-30 miles a gallon with diesel and booster.
It has a few warts:
a few dents, the paint on the rear quarter panel is damaged and someone did not very great fix on it.
the windshield seals are in dire need of replacing and the upholstery is water damaged in that you can see marks.  It's not rotted out. the sun roof does NOT leak. the rugs are ok, in fact I have a second set of them on top of the original set but the extra set is not MB issued although they are MB specific.
I added a modern pioneer stereo but the speakers are awful, sort of shredded. Recently someone cracked the driver side headlight and I have it taped together/  I have a spare but it is for the other side.
Everything mechanically works great.
the vacuum door locks don't work.  the vent adjuster knob is gone so it brings in air pretty much all the time. heater is good so I don't get too cold. it never had the AC installed.
Tires are all new in the last 5 years.  I put about 4k a year on the car since then, which is when I bought it.
It's burgundy with tan interior,  It has the original took kit and first aid kit.  You have the option of keeping my Tule bike rack rails if you like but they are sort of old and corroded.  I use them constantly to haul stuff and carry bikes.
also I do have three door seals for it- missing rear passenger seal but have the rest and a tiny bottle of MB touch up paint.
It's been well maintained since I had it:
new fuel tank and lines, just did a brake job a month ago, tie rods a few years ago and valve lines and seals redone and valves adjusted a few years back.
It is very reliable with a good battery and good starter.  It does not leak any fluids. I have a bunch of keys for it but not the valet key.
I have been driving the car up and down I-5 since last year in rain and hot sun and it has been a champion.  If I stay under 85 it doesn't get too hot. If I cruise that fast on a hot day it inches up but so far has not come near overheating but I keep it low because I love my car.  In the winter I do 85 or more on I-5 and have even been pulled over for it (85 uphill!) and I think that's pretty impressive.
I am very sad to sell by beloved car but I need 4wd and just bought a little pick up truck since I am moving to the mountains.
I'll take $3.5k cash for this wonderful car.  It is a very good candidate for full restore. Any interested parties may email me for more photos.  Please let me know what you want me to take photos of or I'll just take a bunch of everything. I really want my car to have a good home.
Thanks guys,
-dw

I'm going to try and post a photo of the well stripped 1979 Coupe .
