[diesel_mercedes] 1977 240D Motor Mount Question

 

I'm almost ready to do the motor mounts and tranny mount on my '77 240D.  Still waiting for the center mount to come in.  I can feel that it's just behind the oil pan, but I can't see what type of bolt it is to determine what tool  are neded to remove it.  I've done the side mounts on the first 300D I had, but this third mount behind the oil pan is new to me.

I hope that I have luck like that with our 240D.  It doesn't blow lots of oil under the car, but there's some dribbling around the breather hose at the rockerbox (sounds better than valve cover).  It seems to run better every time we take it out, probably only about 50 miles total since purchase.

That echos my experience with my '77 240D!  I'll never be stumped by a W123 alternator again!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm 500 miles. I think if the car has super bad blo-by it would be starting to oil up, even with only 500 miles. So maybe good news? Rear main leak, not good news.Max

It's new.  Has just over 500 miles on it. 

The leak is from the main rear seal.  The car has been on a lift a couple of times.

The AC belt let go in Yuma, so put in a new one, the compressor is a bit of a bear, hard to reach those bolt heads. Felt like the village idiot because I should have replaced the fan belts while I had the AC belt off (had no way to go get them once the ac pump was off). Had to go back and retighten the belt, It needs to be tighter than most belts, 1/4"deflection, instead of the usual 1/2" PS I always take the power steering pump off and set it aside when working on the ac pump or vac pump.

I did that. Before I sent it, it looked and performed fine.  I was able to put my mouse over that whole mess and get the "hand" and was able to click on a link to see a picture.
