Fred ;
Engines are engines unless they're two cycle so they sound pretty much the same .
Diesel engines almost never get ' misses ' because they can't foul spark plugs being compression ignition .
The tend to have a fairly narrow power band, why you need to use the gears just so to have any manner of performance .
I need to look under the hood and check the paper filter again, the last time I did it was still clean so maybe, just maybe I'm nearing the end of the fungus debacle .
My Coupe is running pretty well, it still lopes at idle when fully warmed up most of the time but not always, I am quite sure the Injection Pump is kaput and am looking forward to replacing it but I can't until I have the damned recalcitrant VW out of my driveway .
Before the engine in m Coupe died in a large could of smoke, it ran pretty well on all five cylinders once it revved above 1,500 RPM .

Yeah, I have no idea how long it takes. I had just done the full flush (tank out) when we found K100. It was already running pretty good and never got bad again.
My problem is I have no idea what a good running diesel sounds like. It stays running. No heavy smoke and sounds like a really obnoxious baby toy.
Plenty of power, for what it is, once I learned how to use the gears.
Irritating because I have a good ear for gas engines, so I hear everything but it means little.
