[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Check '82 240D Slushbox

 

AC used, mixed city & freeway driving, 383 miles, 20.2 MPG ~ this is awful . my Wagon gets better fuel economy than this thing does .

A little bit of fungus crud in the primary intake screen, I ran all over town looking for another one but couldn't find so I cleaned the old one with starting fluid as best I could in the filling station .

Low fuel lamp lit at 328 miles .

No smoke, I wonder what's the deal here .

[diesel_mercedes] AC quit, trouble shooting?

 

Hi,

My AC quite the other day, and I'm not sure if the compressor has gone,
or just isn't getting a signal from the controller.

Is there an easy way to test the compressor?

Every once and awhile, I've had the AC not work one day and be fine the
next, so I thought it might start working again, yet it hasn't.

I tried bypassing the low pressure switch to see if it had leaked, yet
the compressor didn't engage.

I heard the '85 has another control box under the hood too.

Take some pics.

On my car the little strip of cloth, that surrounds the rear window, has come loose again. I'll see if I can glue it back before looking for fabric.

When I recovered my B pillars I went to Joanns and got a yard or two of material that matched the palomino interior. Works great and I will be going back for more material to do interior refurbishing, including the drivers seat wallet tear.
