[diesel_mercedes] MBZ Coastal Cruise This Saturday
I'll try to find & post up the meeting places , this time there will be _two_ jump off points ,one North in L.A. County , t'other South in Orange County , we're supposed to meet up I don't know where .
These are a really nice buncha folks , some have _Museum_Piece_ cars that are fun to behold .
They don't mind ragggedy cars either , it's all good if you're driving a vintage Mercedes (but you alls know that already , DUH ) .
I plan to go if I can , I might even find the time to wash my Diesel Sports Coupe.....

[diesel_mercedes] Those Darn " Might-As-Wells " !
O.K. , so to - day I took my boxfull of fuel injectors to the Diesel Service place again , they gave me a nice elderly fellow who pop tested 6 of them , it turns out one of my new Monark injectors was defective , it drools and sprays an off side needle of fuel instead of the correct conical fog .
Two more were a bit sticky and stuttered .
All were right on spec. for popoff pressure .
I didn't bother testing the extra 6 I had , I just gave them to them as they'll rebuild them so no testing necessary .
The nice man taught me much about Diesel Injectors while he was working , he said I should use a brass bristle toothbrush to clean the built up carbon off the face of the injector so it'd spray better and remain cleaner .
I tool them home and installed them , looped up some new return hoses then I stroked the hand primer about 40 strokes , cycled the glow plugs ,held the throttle wide open with one hand whilst I pressed my manual starter switch , it cranked for a bit then at one shot , roared into life , none of the usual missing & choking as the lines bleed out .
I then decided to replace an air cleaner bushing I noticed had failed , when I removed the air cleaner housing , the 'T' bracket I bought & installed last year , it was broken at the front tip . good thing I was able to score two of them , every time I looked at the one in the trunk I think about throwing it out , good thing I didn't ! .
I took pictures and will post them soon .
I connected the end of my dual lead battery ground cable to the rear 8 MM 'T' bracket to intake manifold bolt , the engine now cranks much faster . picture of that too .
Every time I adjust the valves , I am amazed at how much smoother the engine runs and more off idle power there is .
So , not to worry Nate ,it's no troubles , no hassles , just routine mtce. on a 30 Y.O. junker that was supposed to have been crushed for scrap .
As always , it's dead nutz reliable and goes like stink , gets reasonable fuel economy and is *MUCH* cheaper to operate than most other cars I've owned , when you amoratize the parts over the time & miles (LOTS of miles !) I put on whatever I'm driving .

Hey guys I know I don't post much but I got a question. My flasher/relay on my car was sticking and I ordered a new one through Napa but there relay has four prongs verses my original which has three? would there be a problem.
