[diesel_mercedes] R134a Freon

Here in Southern California, land of fruits, nuts and flakes, we too have the deposit charge on the cans, _zero_ restrictions on whom can walk in and buy R143a whatsoever .

R12 isn't hard to find, you just have to search a little bit .

It takes about 80% R124a to do the same work as R12, I had my buddy do some AC repairs on my '84 300CD and it barely puts out 80* F air at the dash vents so we're going to fool with it some more, I'm betting he over charged it .

What new regulations have been re-instated?  At the auto parts store I work at, we're still selling R-134a to whomever walks through the door (now only $7.99 for the small can, half of what it was 5-years ago), still not allowed to sell R12, same as the past 20-some years.

[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Check '82 240D Slushbox

AC used, no additives, 441 miles, 24 MPG .

I guess that;s it now, nearly $1K into engine, fuel system and tranny rebuilding and I _lost_ 7 MPG's Emoji .

At least it runs great and weeps less oil than ever before Emoji .

We're supposed to drive it to Las Vegas next week, three up with luggage .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] AC Temp ?

Here we have a $10 core charge on the R-134a can, which you get back.

I need to top mine up every once and awhile, so I just keep the kit in trunk.

The government recently re-introduced freon sale regulation, so you can't buy your own anyways.
